Day 5 Nairobi,Kenya
Hi Hope Church & Friends,
The women's and men's leadership training is over. It has been a blessing to me and I was so encouraged. What a great team I served with and what an honor it was to be back on a short term mission trip with my husband Bill. So very cool. Even though we were not with each most of the day we both peaked in on each other to see what the other was doing. He was teaching in the book of Genesis and I was sharing the 5 Heart Essentials of Women's Ministries.
The women's conference really went well and was really different this year. I would have to say I really felt all your prayers back home. We tried a few different things with the women and you could really tell that God's hand was in the conference. Marieke shared from the first three chapters of Genesis and I was blessed by her teaching and encouraged. She is really gifted. Lisa was amazing as usual wearing many hats and my favorite thing she did in which the women really seemed to enjoy was when she shared on the different women in the Bible. Jennifer led the crafts and did some devotions. Jennifer also got to have a session with the pastors wives and that went really well and they were encouraged. I had the opportunity to mentor and pray with a sweet, gentle women name Pinina who is the National Women's Ministry leader for all of Kenya. Her husband is the Pastor in a slum. She also teaches school in that slum. What an honor to spend time with this women who is on fire for the Lord.
One thing I tried for the first time was teaching the women how to do an Inductive Bible Study. I added it on to my last heart essential which was being a women of compassion and good works. I had them break up into small groups and discuss the passage Luke 10:25-37 Basically having them go over questions like; What does the passage say? What does passage mean? What am I to do? Each group also dug deeper with looking at key characters, themes and directions from the passage. We had a wrap up session at the end to see what each group learned. And they shared so deeply and they showed real understanding of the passage.
Dave and Jennifer did marriage course 2 of the nights that was well attended. Dave also was very involved in a mentoring program that was beginning, among many other topics he taught during the day.
It's late now and I just want to post two short videos from two of the ladies. We really do serve a mighty God. God Bless and I will see you when I get back.

Day 4 Nairobi, Kenya
Hello Church Family!
This is Lisa Dyk checking in with all of you after our 4th day of the conference in Nairobi. Thank you so much for your faithful prayers. I spoke on Esther and on spiritual warfare today so I especially needed the prayers. It is wonderful to be here ministering with Marieke. I feel a great weight of responsibility teaching God's Word to these beautiful God-fearing women. Each day is tough, but is driving all of us to our knees.
I am trying to learn as much as I can about the culture in the short time I have here and I am enjoying the food and natural hospitality of the people. We are encouraged by brothers and sisters in the Lord so far away who are bravely living out their faith.
We thought there might be some trouble due to the swearing in of Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday but it was a national holiday and the Kenyans in general seemed pleased by the outcome.
Please keep praying for us! Lisa

Day 3- Nairobi Kenya
Dear Hope Church,
This is Marieke writing to you about today's work in Nairobi, Kenya. It's a pleasure, no a blessing to be serving with you all again. I love being a part of this family!
Today's work with the women at Lifeway Mission was beautiful and unexpected. For the last few months, the Lord has been teaching me about what it is to be a Godly woman. I knew God wanted me to share on this topic, but I really didn't want to. I knew that speaking on such a challenging topic in my home country's culture would be difficult, never mind a culture and language unfamiliar to me! So, I was very nervous going into today, and was really praying for God to be glorified and only God's truth to be spoken. It's such a weight to know you are teaching people, especially when God's word says teachers will be judged more strictly. I wanted to be sure it was right.
I had 10 pages of typed content going into our discussion, but after watching 2 hours of the ladies act out our focus passage of scripture I had already crossed out 5 pages of that content. I prayed before I spoke, knowing now it would have to be the Lord providing content. The women were responding and engaged with the material immediately. Halfway through the women began interjecting and were eager to know more. So, we ended up breaking out into small discussion groups to read over scripture. The four women traveling with Hope Church went to "lead and guide" conversation. In my group, I was challenged and blessed to hear how eager these women were to obey the word of God! I am blessed to be in the presence of sisters so eagerly serving the Lord halfway across the world!

I don't know them or understand these women well, but I see the Lord working in their hearts.
Afterwards one woman shared with me how blessed she was to be encouraged, and how excited she was to go home and share the content! Praise God that He would choose a fool like me, ill-equipped, so that I know it was only the Lord that could be moving and teaching. Be encouraged knowing that the Lord is alive and active! His word does not go out void (Isaiah 55:11). His word is working, moving and bearing fruit here in Nairobi. Bless the Lord.

The men were attentive while listening to amazing training done by
Dave and Bill in the Morning. We all were so blessed by being with them today.
