We are back at the guest house preparing for day two after a very long and awesome day one. It is in the low 80's, sunny and dry. I say that because our Kenyan friends are wearing sweaters and wraps; go figure.
We worked very hard to be ready and we sent over everything for booklets to be prepared with the outlines for each of our talks, and we had power points on our computers. Well, the best laid plans go awry. We arrived to no booklets and no electricity. For the first few hours we did group bible study and dramas and some impromptu teaching.
We finally got on track and the women were furiously writing answers on their outlines, answering and asking questions, sharing, encouraging, praying and laughing (mostly at me trying to speak Kiswahili).
Luke is a perfect theme for this conference because he emphasizes Jesus' love and compassion for outsiders, including women. After we finish Luke we are moving on to 1 & 2 Thessalonians. Another exciting thing we are doing is "drama/monologues" of a selected few women in Scripture and talking about what the Bible says about womanhood; the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. Whew!
